Complete skateboards can be found at almost any skate shop and also at many sports stores. They are ready to ride with all the necessary components pre-installed. This is one of the easiest ways to learn how to skateboard, and they are often priced very low to encourage the first time skateboarder. They are also made by respected manufacturers that also produce the more expensive pro-models.

Complete skateboards are often lacking in high quality hardware however. The boards are very similar to the ones that the pros ride, but the wheels, bearings and trucks are often much lower quality. Luckily, these parts are easy to replace. The first piece that often needs upgrading or replacement are the bearings. Installing high quality bearings provides the biggest improvement to any ride. It will be faster and smoother, requiring less effort from the skater.

Purchasing complete skateboards is a great way to learn how to skate. These can be abused with the confidence that a high priced board will not be wasted. For as little as $20 a regular person can buy a board and ride away as a skater, at least after a little bit of practice. The most important piece is the deck, so be sure to select one that is designed and manufactured well.
